Sudoku Challenge Among Friends and Relatives (Simplified Version)

SUDOKU CHALLENGE AMONG FRIENDS AND RELATIVES

                                                       (Simplified Version)

    RULES:

    • Ordinary sudoku rules apply.
    • The number of players (between 2 to 5) and their order are determined at the very beginning.
    • The number of digits players must enter in one round follows the sequence 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, etc.
    • Players #1 to #5 are respectively given a +0, +4, +6, +8 and +10 'handicap' on the first round.
    • During the final round (round at the end of which it is anticipated the sudoku grid will be completed), the
players' order is determined by their scores (from lowest to highest). The initial players' order will be
maintained between players showing an identical score.
    • Each player enters his/her numbers in the sudoku grid then counts his/her points.
    • A number entered in the sudoku grid is worth its nominal value in points.
    • 10 points if a player completes at least one column, one line or one 3x3 block (maximum of 10 points per round).
    • 10 points if a player can not participate in the final round because the sudoku grid is completed.
    • Always verify the score and the digits entered by the previous player.
    • If in error, a player must correct his/her entry and substract 1, 2 or 3 points from his/her score depending
on wether this is a 1, 2 or 3-digit round respectively.

    HINTS:

    • Try entering the highest digits first.
    • Try completing a colum, a line or a 3x3 block.
    • Try to prevent the next player from completing a column, a line or a 3x3 block.

    • Each space must contain a number from 1 to 9.
    • All the numbers from 1 to 9 must be present in each column, each line and each 3x3 block.
    • Numbers can not repeat in a same column, line or 3x3 block.
    • The objective of the game is to obtain the highest score at the end of the final round.

    • No handicap: Players have no handicap.

    CHRONO OPTION:

    • No chrono (by default) : No time limit to respect.
    • With chrono : A time limit is determined. Only the numbers entered within that time limit will count.

    FINAL ROUND OPTION:

Final round (definition): Round at the end of which it is anticipated the sudoku grid will be completed.

    • Increasing (by default): The order of play is determined by the score, from the lowest to the highest.

    • In the event of a tie, the initial order of play is maintained among those players showing an identical score.

    ORDER OF PLAY AND OPTIONS:

    • The order of play and options are determined at the very start.

    ENTRIES:

    • Each player enters his numbers in the sudoku grid then counts his points.
    • Always verify the numbers and the score of the previous player before playing one’s own round.
    • Any player can ask for an explanation if he doubts the validity of another player's entry.
    • If in error, a player must correct its entry. That entry even once corrected does not score points.

    SCORE:

    • 10 points if a player completes a column, a line or a 3x3 block (maximum 10 points per round).
